okay, so a bit of background information to this site, if anyone’s interested!

The thing is, I’ve been a Sydney music producer for about 15 years and over the last year have branched out into multimedia, seo-optimized content for websites marketing a product or service, getting people with existing websites more organic search engine traffic, and video.

So basically for the last 6 months or so I have been doing as much video marketing, marketing video production, as I have audio, sound mixing, sound effects, sound design, songwriting for television shows, themes and TV commercials and jingles, (i’m signed to Sony/ATV and on my third publishing deal with them) – and all that other stuff I talk about too like optimizing your video for seo and so on – this is because I’m also an internet marketer.

However, I didn’t have a dedicated website for this. Sure, I had other websites – like I Can Build You a Website! which is my wordpress website building service, and Fast Start Web Formula, which is my internet marketing coaching and wordpress coaching site, and even i-marketingedge.com (which I recommend you visit, to get instant access to our awesome (if we do say ourselves) video called the online business blueprint (totally free!)

Internet Marketing Niche

A Niche (as they call 'em in Internet Marketing circles!)

Anyway, I digress. So I had some sites related to my ‘niches’ – as they call ‘em in internet marketing circles – but I didn’t have a dedicated site for my video marketing.

However, I was in a mastermind group; an internet marketing mastermind group.
And we decided that we were going to create a group product. We decided that an information product that taught people how to achieve front page in google rankings in one month (30 days) would be the go.

Everyone in the group won access by impressing internet marketer James Schramko AKA Shrakmo – here is the direct link to James’ free report that was the thing that got me started – anyway, so this mastermind group was formed after we all built a website at the last Fast Web Formula seminar that showed we had implemented something we’d learned at the seminar.

So the winners were formed into a mastermind group, which James is private coaching (that was our awesome prize!) – however being in the mastermind group in itself has been an ‘interesting experience’ at times (see accountability on my Barbara Griffin personal website!).

So anyway, that’s the background of the group.

And this website is my ‘contender’ for the 30-day challenge.

Now, here’s the thing: ALL of the other guys in the group picked a keyword that has only about 40,000-50,000 competing websites. I, however, have picked a keyword (“video marketing”, in case that wasn’t obvious! hehe) – that has 423,000 (i.e., ten times as hard).

So sue me: but I just thought it was the ‘right’ keyword for me. It’s just that…. video marketing is what I do, duh. So, my keyword is my keyword. Right!

(okay, I have some sub keywords that I am also going to try and rank for, like ‘video email marketing’ and ‘marketing video production’ and so on, there are about 7 others that would be ‘easier’.)

but know this about me:
Great quote from the outrageous, beautiful and impeccable Ramtha:
( – from memory, so I hope I get this roughly right – )

“If you want an easy life, hit yourself over the head with a hammer. They’ll even bring the food to your bed!”
- Ramtha (Like, do you get it? So funny, so ironic, so deep, so ‘YEAH!’)

As in; there is no such thing as an easy life.
And I have never picked the easy option.

So, I really don’t know if I will be able to show up on page 1 of google when one searches for the term video marketing in 30 days. But I am damn well gonna try, without spamming, scamming, or asking my friends to help me (with the exception of the lovely Belinda Faulkner AKA tecknowoman, who offered not only her help, but access to her Linkvana account. bless!)

Now the dark side of all this is if I am not successful, and the mastermind group has already said this to me, ‘Barb we could make an example of you how you didn’t follow the instructions and chose a keyword that was way too competitive and failed’.

However, here’s the thing.

Let’s say the 30 day challenge is an analogy of ‘how to beat 40,000 people in 30 days’ and that basically what I have done is raise the ante for myself, i.e. my actual challenge is ten times harder AKA ‘how to beat 423,000 people in 30 days’ – then even if I only 50 percent get there, I’ve already achieved 500 percent better than the ‘achievable goal’ aimed for by the others. Right?

So as far as I can see, I cannot fail. Right? Even if I ‘fail’ by the rest of the group’s standards or even the 30 day challenge, if my task was harder, and I get a certain percentage of the way there, I’m all good with that.

And so be that!

Besides, I’ve got my (easier) backup keywords to rank for, provided I also target them, so my ego doesn’t get all battered and so we can prove that the 30 day challenge does actually 100 percent work.

(PS, this is going to be an amazing information product because we have actually been creating it in real time. seriously.!)
